THRU-r is still in it’s infancy as a non-profit. We are gradually building our brand, increasing membership, and gaining a foothold in the thru-hiking community. One way we are building our community is through increasing our real-life involvement with thru-hikers. Throughout this year (and future years), we are increasing our physical presence at thru-hiker events, like trail days for the various long trails in the US.

Meet Your Hosts
Paladin is the President of our Board of Directors and hosts trail talks about once a month on Tuesdays. He has hiked the AT, the PCT, most of the West Highland Way and the Tour du Mont Blanc, and parts of Norway. He is an expert in bushcraft and always cooks amazing meals on trail. This year, he will be hiking the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky and then some trails around Greece.
Vegas is one of our Ambassadors and one of last year’s hikership winners. His hiking resume includes the AT, The Foothills Trail, Sheltowee Trace E2E, West Highland Way, Ozark Highlands Trail, PCT, and The Long Trail E2E. He hosts Hiker Happy Hours on Friday nights throughout the year.

Potential THRU-r setup for AT Days.
Paladin and Vegas will host a location for thru-hikers to gather, have a cup of coffee, enjoy trail magic, and walk away with a small gift. Trail magic may include take-away selections of ramen, jerky, electrolytes, oatmeal, candy, small lighters, and other trail essentials, while supplies last. Probably only through Friday.
Look for them around town, with possibly a stealth setup at the ball field. Shhhhh. We were too late to get an official spot. Wherever they can set up, they will have camp chairs, a pop-up awning, a large THRU-r banner, and an old-school Coleman stove for camp coffee. At some point over the weekend, they will have a drawing for a tan, THRU-r trucker cap. You must be present to win, so find them early and visit often!
